Carlotta de Bevilacqua
Architect, designer and above all humanist, Carlotta de Bevilacqua has been a force in contemporary lighting since the 1980’s. A pioneer in LED research and implementation, she created the concept “The Human Light” in which lighting encourages not only the well-being of those who live, work and interact with it, but also the planet. As interested in science of light as the sensory experience, de Bevilacqua seeks to create synergy between products and users through accessible, experimental design. A life-force at Artemide for nearly 4 decades, in addition to her own studio she oversees Danese Milano creating minimal, yet elegant, products which further complement the built environment. In addition to widespread recognition for her work, in 2011, she received a Red Dot Design Award for the Algoritmo and Copernico.
Paola di Arianello
Employed by Artemide for nearly 10 years, Paola di Arianello is an Italian graphic and industrial designer who has worked closely with Carlotta de Bevilacqua on interior and design projects such as the Empatia released in 2013 and the winner of a Wallpaper Design Award.
Algoritmo Sharping is an innovative system that creates an integrated, dynamic dialogue with architecture. Light becomes a constructive element creating different perspectives and functional identities within a space, with the goal of becoming fully integrated with the architecture. Algoritmo is a flexible system that allows different lighting solutions to be joined through the same shared electrical system. 5 lighting performances are included in a single, extruded aluminum body: ambient lighting, office lighting, surface lighting, accent lighting, and directional lighting. The versatility of this system gives the ability to create different lighting configurations without interruptions or discontinuities between the wall, ceiling and internal space. It is possible to create lines and corners of continuous lighting on the same plane or at a 90-degree angle.
A high-efficiency patented optical system combines a polynomial optical unit with geometric screening of the beam’s viewing angle. Algoritmo Sharping simply gives you more options and greater control when designing light within a space.
Algoritmo Sharping is a flexible system that allows the continuous combination of Sharp light modules, with direct or direct + indirect emission LED lighting in warm white (3000K) and neutral white (4000K). Structural modules in extruded aluminum are available in two different lengths, depending on the installation option. Recessed trim, recessed trimless, ceiling or suspension versions are available.
Algoritmo Sharping is available in 3 finishes (white, black, or silver), 2 optic finishes (black or white) and 3 beams (17°, 34°, 54°).
There are 2 types of extrusion lengths available, 4ft and 8ft with unique optical patterns. The 4ft version is available in a 2x4 or 3x4 pattern while the 8ft version is available in a 4x4 or 6x4 pattern.
